Laikyn (they/she) graduated in 2019 with their Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Indiana University Southeast. In 2022, they graduated from the University of Louisville with their Master of Science in Social Work with a concentration in mental health.
They have experience working in a variety of settings, including school-based and community-based mental health, acute intake and assessment, and they did their practicum in graduate school at the Trager Institute in their Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizure Clinic.
They specialize in helping clients work through depression, anxiety, acute and complex trauma, other mood disorders, and psychosis, as well as life transitions, family of origin trauma, religious and purity culture trauma, queer and transgender issues, and weight-related trauma. She does not ascribe to any one therapy modality, and instead utilizes aspects of many, including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. Laikyn is also trained to provide EMDR.
Laikyn, who is autistic and ADHD, aligns with the principles of Health At Every Size, and practices from a neuroaffirming, sex-positive, and fat-positive perspective. You can be assured that regardless of what you bring into the therapy room, there will be no judgment.
